Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has stated that a nation cannot be built by neglecting its police force, emphasising the necessity of law enforcement in establishing order and ensuring national progress.

He made these remarks on Monday (17 March), during a meeting at the Chief Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, while addressing field-level police officials.

"If we can enforce the law properly and establish discipline, we can emerge victorious in all battles," Yunus stated.

"Without law, there can be no government, no democracy, and no civil rights."

He further stressed that the police must play an effective role in building a "New Bangladesh".

"Previously, the police were influenced by the wrong elements, but now they must contribute to creating an enlightened Bangladesh," he added.

Yunus also highlighted the country's immense potential, stating, "Bangladesh is a land of opportunities, yet we have not been able to fully realise them. The July movement has opened up a new chance to rebuild the nation. We must not let this potential slip away. There is an opportunity for Bangladesh to rise to the ranks of global leaders."

The meeting was attended by Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Home Secretary Nasimul Gani, and Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam.

Among the field-level officials who addressed the gathering were Chattogram Range DIG Ahsan Habib Palash and Rajshahi Range DIG Farzana Islam.
