The newly appointed US Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) ad interim to Bangladesh, Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson, has reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s democratic transition and ongoing reforms.
In her maiden meeting with Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain, held at his office on Sunday afternoon, Ambassador Jacobson expressed optimism about Bangladesh’s economic and political progress under the Interim Government. She commended the government’s reform initiatives aimed at ensuring free, fair, and credible elections, as pledged by Chief Adviser Anwarul Haq.
The discussions touched on enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, human rights, labor reforms, and the repatriation of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar. The Foreign Adviser highlighted the Interim Government’s efforts in facilitating consensus-building among political parties and reiterated its commitment to democratic and economic stability.
Ambassador Jacobson, accompanied by senior diplomats from the US Embassy in Dhaka, also lauded Bangladesh’s economic reforms and expressed optimism about the country’s macroeconomic stability and growth trajectory.
The Foreign Adviser assured the US envoy of full support during her tenure, expressing hope that Bangladesh-US relations would strengthen further in the coming months.
