Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has announced that temperatures are expected to decrease next week, potentially intensifying the winter chill.
"The extended portion of the sub-continental high-pressure belt currently extends over West Bengal and adjacent areas, while the season's normal low-pressure area is situated in the southern Bay of Bengal, with its extension reaching the northern Bay of Bengal," said BMD in its weather update on Tuesday (14 January).
According to the BMD, there may be a slight drop in night temperatures across the country, while daytime temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.
Light to moderate fog may occur in some areas from late night until morning.
The weather department has indicated the possibility of another cold wave before the end of January, though specific dates cannot be determined at this time.
