A Chattogram court has denied bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das, a former leader of ISKCON who was expelled from the organisation, in a sedition case filed at Kotwali Police Station in Chattogram.

Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, presided over by Saiful Islam, made the decision after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence on Thursday (2 January).

Following the hearing, Chinmoy's lawyer, Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee said they plan to appeal to the High Court for bail.

Around 11:40am, the 11 SC lawyers, led by Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee, departed from the court premises in two microbuses under police escort.

Earlier in the day, they arrived at the court around 10:15am to represent Chinmoy in the high-profile case.

Despite their efforts, the court's decision went against their plea.
