The curtain rises on the 29th Dhaka International Trade Fair at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BCFEC) in Purbachal as the fair was inaugurated by the Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus at 11:30am on Wednesday (1 January).
According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), this year’s trade fair features participation from 11 companies representing seven countries, alongside a total of 362 stalls and pavilions.
In commemoration of the July-August uprising, the fair will highlight dedicated spaces such as the July Square, the Thirty-Six Square, and the Youth Pavilion.
A notable feature this year is the introduction of e-tickets, ensuring a streamlined entry process.
For the first time, stall and pavilion spaces across various categories were allocated online.
To facilitate visitors, the fair offers a dedicated bus service by BRTC and a special discounted ride-hailing service via Uber.
The event will also host seminars focusing on potential sectors and export-oriented products. For international entrepreneurs, exclusive zones such as a sourcing corner, an electronics zone, and a furniture zone have been set up.
Additionally, technology corners cater to younger visitors, while senior citizens have designated seating areas. A children’s park has been incorporated to provide entertainment for the younger attendees.
The fair will run throughout the month, opening daily from 10am to 9pm, with extended hours until 10pm on weekends and public holidays.
