The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and National Citizens Committee leaders have issued an ultimatum to the interim government to declare a proclamation for the July Uprising by 15 January.

The announcement was made during the "March for Unity" rally at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon.

Hasnat Abdullah, the convenor of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, addressed the gathering, stating, "We have no enemies except the Awami League."

He criticised the interim government for failing to normalize law and order or control rising commodity prices. "Syndicates have simply shifted hands, and yet the advisors remain passive," he added.

Nasir Uddin Patwary, convenor of the National Citizen's Committee, expressed aspirations for a new Bangladesh rooted in the spirit of 2024.

Meanwhile, the committee's chief organiser, Sarjis Alam, emphasised the urgency of addressing key national issues, including the swift trial of genocide, price control, and the repatriation of embezzled funds.

Earlier in the day, thousands of students, youth, and families of those injured or killed in recent protests gathered at Shaheed Minar, expressing solidarity and a commitment to a fascism-free Bangladesh. Attendees traveled from across the country, creating a massive turnout.

The event carried emotional weight as families of victims of past movements joined the rally.
