Seven more people died of dengue fever in the last 24 hours, with 837 new patients admitted to hospitals across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the newly hospitalised patients, 221 were from Dhaka division, including 171 in Dhaka North City and 115 in Dhaka South City. Other divisions reported the following cases: Barishal (72), Chattogram (85), Khulna (109), Rajshahi (32), Mymensingh (18), Sylhet (4), and Rangpur (10).

This year, the total number of dengue cases has reached 90,440, with 482 fatalities reported so far, the DGHS statement revealed.

In comparison, last year saw a record-breaking 321,179 cases and 1,705 deaths due to dengue, marking the country’s worst-ever outbreak.

Health authorities continue to urge citizens to take preventive measures, such as removing stagnant water and using protective measures against mosquito bites, to combat the spread of the disease.
