After several days of unrest, normalcy has returned to the RMG factories in the industrial zones of Gazipur.

Workers resumed their duties in the factories On Sunday (6 October) morning, bringing relief to both the industrial sector and the main roads.

However, in order to avoid further complications, authorities have kept a total of eight factories in various areas of the district closed.

From the morning, workers peacefully rejoined their work in garment factories and other industries across areas such as Tongi, Sreepur, Bhogra, Konabari, and Kaliakoir within the industrial city of Gazipur.

With production back in operation, activity has returned to the once-disrupted industrial zone.

Meanwhile, the administration has intensified patrols by law enforcement in key areas of the industrial zones.

Since the morning, joint patrols by the army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and police were observed on the Dhaka-Tangail, Dhaka-Mymensingh, and Chandra-Nabinagar highways.

Previously, on Saturday, unrest had spread throughout the Kashimpur area of Gazipur, where workers of the garment factory Irish Fashion Limited expressed dissatisfaction.

At one point, law enforcement successfully mediated between the workers and factory management, restoring order.

That same night, a joint force arrested five individuals, including three women, for their involvement in fomenting unrest within the industrial sector. Legal actions have since been taken against them.

Superintendent of Gazipur Industrial Police 2 Sarwar Alam reported that the situation in almost all factories in Gazipur appeared normal today.

He further stated that there have been no reports of protests or demonstrations, expressing hope that the industrial unrest has now completely subsided.
