The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has directed banks to submit account details of the chairmen of five prominent business groups as part of a thorough examination of their tax compliance.
The Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of the NBR has specifically requested information on Beximco Vice Chairman Salman F Rahman, Nasa Group Chairman Nazrul Islam Majumder, Summit Group Chairman Aziz Khan, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Khan Sobhan, and Orion Group Chairman Obaidul Karim, according to an official statement issued by the NBR on Thursday (22 August).
In addition to these individuals, the tax authorities have also instructed banks to provide details on persons associated with them and the companies they own.
