Families of killed army members in the Pilkhana carnage in 2009 have placed a seven-point demand including trial of those involved in the carnage, reinvestigation into the massacre and announcing February 25 as Martyred Army Day.
They placed the demands in a press conference at RAOWA Club in the capital's Mahakhali area on Saturday (17 August).
BDR's the then Director General Major General Shakil Ahmed's son Rakin, slain army officer Colonel Shafiq's son Advocate Sakib Rahman, Central Subedar's son Abdul Hannan and wives, brothers and offspring of slain army members spoke in the press conference.
Shakil Ahmed's son Rakin said a sitting prime minister killed 57 army officers by hatching conspiracy with a foreign country.
"That's why we are demanding martyred day. We don't accept the investigation carried out in the last 15 years as the prime killer who gave order was in power," he said.
Rakin said former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Selim, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and many others were involved with the Pilkhana carnage.
He also demanded freeing those innocent people who are serving jail term still now through proper investigation.
Colonel Shafiq's son Advocate Sakib Rahman said Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Choudhury was in the probe committee of the BDR carnage. Jahangir Alam prepared a report, but it was published in media after making amendments, he said.
Sakib demanded publication of the original copy of the report.
A total of 74, including 57 army officials, were killed during the BDR carnage that took place at Pilkhana headquarters on February 25-26, 2009.
The carnage took place within 50 days of forming Sheikh Hasina's Awami League government in 2009.
