Parents gathered in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh, expressing their anger over the deaths of more than 200 students during a nationwide anti-discrimination student movement.

They held a human chain under the banner "Parents Beside Their Children" on Saturday (3 August).

During the demonstration, parents displayed various banners with photos of those who died in the quota reform movement, posing the question, "Why is death so easy?"

Previously, on Friday night, Asif Mahmud and Rifat Rashid, coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, announced via Facebook posts and video messages that there would be nationwide protests today (3 August) to condemn the attacks on their peaceful programmes and to demand their nine-point charter. \

They also declared an indefinite "total non-cooperation" movement starting Sunday.
