Warsia wins bronze in Western Asian Youth Chess

Woman candidate master Warsia Khusbu won the bronze medal in the girls under-12 group of rapid chess in the Western Asian Youth Chess Championships.

The event was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Monday last.

WCM Warsia Khusbu finished third with five points from seven and bagged the bronze medal. In the Rapid events, FIDE master Manon Reja Neer finished fourth with 4.5 in the open U-18 group, candidate master Sakline Mostafa Sajid became sixth in open U-14 group with 4.5, Oitijja Barua became seventh in open U-12 Group with 4.5 points and women FIDE master Wadifa Ahmed finished eighth in the girls U-18 group with 4.5. 

Meanwhile, standard chess events of the Western Asian Youth Chess Championships started ton Tuesday (9 July) with FIDE master Manon Reja Neer, candidate master Sakline Mostafa Sajid, woman FIDE master Wadifa Ahmed, Afnan Zarif Haque, Oitijja Barua, woman candidate master Warsia Khusbu, Safayet Kibria Azaan.

Warisa Haider won their first won their first round matches.
