A road accident in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has left at least 5 Bangladeshis killed.
The accident took place in UAE's Ajman-Abu Dhabi road at around 10:30am Bangladesh time on Sunday (7 July).
The deceased are said to be residents of Dhaka's Nawabganj and Doha police stations. They all lived in Ajman province of the Emirates.
The deceased have been identified as Md Rana, 30, son of Lutfar Rahman of Balenga village in Nawabganj, Md Rashed, 32, son of Abdul Hakim, Mo Raju, 24, son of Sheikh Irshad, Ibadul Islam, 34, son of Sheikh Ibrahim and Md Hira Mia (22) son of Md Manju of Dohar Bazar area.
They all worked in the same place.
Zillur Rahman, the president of Bangladesh Business Council in Ajman, said, "All five Bangladeshis were going to Abu Dhabi for work around 7:30am local. The car they were carrying on the road met with an accident in the Sahama area on Abu Dhabi Road. They died on the spot."
Consul General of Bangladesh Consulate BM Jamal Hossain said, "We have learned about the accident. The consulate is contacting the local administration for more details on the matter."
