2 workers killed in truck collision in Rajbari

The collision occurred when a speeding truck loaded with mangoes crashed into another truck which was parked on the Rajbari-Kushtia regional highway.

Two workers were killed when a speeding truck collided with a parked truck in the Kalukhali area of Rajbari on Saturday morning (6 July). 

The accident occurred on the Rajbari-Kushtia regional highway in the Goriyana Kalibari area of Madapur union.

The victims are Liton, 32, son of Felu from Khajanagar village in Kushtia Sadar upazila, and Anisur, 35, son of Ansar from Pirojpur village in Charghat upazila, Rajshahi. 

Harun-or-Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Pangsha Highway Police Station, said ae Rajbari-Kushtia regional highway in the Go goods-laden truck bound for Kushtia had broken down and was parked on thriyana Kalibari area. Liton, the helper of the broken-down truck, was standing behind it performing repairs when another speeding truck loaded with mangoes, also headed towards Kushtia, crashed into it from behind. The collision caused severe damage to both trucks and resulted in the immediate death of Anisur, the helper of the mango-laden truck. Liton was critically injured and died on the way to Kushtia Sadar Hospital.

The OC added that the bodies of the deceased have been recovered and are being sent to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
