4 killed, 26 injured as bus collides with truck in Dinajpur

At least four people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Dinajpur. The accident also left at least 26 other people injured.

The accident took place in front of the Aryan Petrol Pump in the Panchbari Bazar area on the Dinajpur-Phulbari highway at around 6am on Friday (5 July), Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Farid Hossain said.

According to local and police sources, a bus of Nabil Paribahan was on its way from Dhaka and a truck carrying mangoes going from Dinajpur to Phulbari collided head-on. 

The truck driver and the helper of the bus died on the spot. 

At that time, among the 28 injured people, two including a seriously injured child died while being taken to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College and Hospital.

Names of the victims have not yet been determined, police said. 

At present, traffic on the highway is normal.
