Three youths were killed in a road accident in Barthakuri Brickfield area of Jakiganj on Sylhet-Jakiganj road on Saturday (27 April) night.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Jakiganj Circle) Yahya Al Mamun, the deceased were identified as Delwar Hossain, (36), son of late Abdul Sukkur of Barthakuri village of the upazila; Redwan Hossain, (26), son of Saad Uddin and also personal assistant of Jakiganj Upazila Parishad Chairman Lokman Uddin Chowdhury; and Md Manzur Hossain, (24), a trader of Sonasar Bazar of the upazila.

The police official said, “The three youths left for home from Sonasar on a motorcycle around 11:45pm on Saturday night. When they reached in Barthakuri village on the Sylhet-Jakiganj road, a truck hit their motor bike, leaving them injured seriously. They were quickly rescued and taken to the local Rabeya Khatun Chowdhury General Hospital where on-duty doctor declared Redwan and Manjur dead. Another motorcyclist, Delwar Hossain died on the way to Sylhet for better treatment.”
