Despite differences of opinion, the goal of state reform is shared by all, said Professor Ali Riaz, Vice-Chair of the National Consensus Commission.

He made the remarks on Tuesday (15 April) during a dialogue with the National Democratic Movement (NDM) held at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad.

“There are slight divergences regarding the path to reform implementation,” he said.

“Through discussion, we can overcome these differences and swiftly draft a national charter based on areas of existing consensus. This charter will mark a step forward in realising the nation's aspiration for state reform.”

He added, “We may engage in discussions in stages. We will consider how to come together on key issues.”

Addressing the need for clarification on certain elements of the commission’s spreadsheet, Riaz stated, “In some cases, political parties will need to explain their positions. Doing so will help clarify where the commissions stand and allow us to better understand your [the parties’] perspectives. It is through this process that we will move forward.”
