Dhaka, Moscow eye stronger military ties

Bangladesh’s Army Chief and Russia’s Deputy Defence Minister met in Moscow to explore avenues for military cooperation and reaffirm bilateral ties

Russian Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin and Bangladesh’s Chief of Army Staff, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, held a working meeting in Moscow on 7 April to discuss prospects for enhanced military cooperation, the Russian Defence Ministry has announced.

According to a statement quoted by the Russian Embassy in Dhaka, the meeting was part of General Waker-Uz-Zaman’s ongoing visit to the Russian Federation.

The two sides reportedly explored avenues for defence collaboration and expressed mutual intent to deepen the longstanding friendship between the armed forces and peoples of both nations.

“The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere,” the Russian Defence Ministry added.
