The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has extended its gratitude to Mushfiqur Rahim for his outstanding contribution to Bangladesh cricket following his decision to retire from One Day Internationals (ODIs), concluding a career that spanned nearly two decades.

In a media release issued on Thursday, the BCB acknowledged Mushfiqur’s immense role in shaping Bangladesh’s ODI success. The board praised his dedication, professionalism, and passion, which played a crucial part in the team's growth in the format.

“Mushfiqur Rahim’s work ethic, resilience, and determination will serve as an inspiration for generations to come. His name will always be remembered when we talk about Bangladesh’s finest ODI moments,” BCB President Faruque Ahmed stated in the release.

Debuting in 2006, Mushfiqur became one of Bangladesh’s most dependable batsmen while excelling as a wicketkeeper.

He retires as Bangladesh’s most-capped ODI player, having played 274 matches, scoring 7,795 runs, making him the country’s second-highest run-scorer in the format. Additionally, he holds the record for the most dismissals by a Bangladeshi wicketkeeper in ODIs, with 243 catches and 56 stumpings.

“It is an incredible achievement to have competed at the highest level for 19 years, which speaks volumes about his consistency and character,” Faruque Ahmed added.

Beyond his batting and wicketkeeping, Mushfiqur also captained Bangladesh in 37 ODIs and remains one of the few players from the country to have featured in five ICC ODI World Cups.

While stepping away from ODIs, Mushfiqur will continue to represent Bangladesh in Test cricket.
