The government has launched a nationwide joint operation, codenamed "Operation Devil Hunt," to crack down on terrorists linked to remnants of a fallen autocratic regime (Awami League). The operation comes in response to a violent attack in Gazipur last Friday (7 February) that left several civilians and students seriously injured.

During a high-level meeting held on Saturday at the Ministry of Home Affairs, senior officials and law enforcement agencies discussed strategies to restore law and order and apprehend the perpetrators. A media statement issued by the ministry described the attackers as “terrorists associated with remnants of a fallen autocratic regime (Awami League).”

The operation, initiated immediately after the meeting, involves coordinated efforts by the police and other law enforcement agencies in Gazipur and across the country. Authorities are focused on swiftly identifying and arresting those responsible for the assault.

A press briefing scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday) will provide further details on the operation and the government’s broader strategy to combat such threats.
