Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will stay active in the field with different political programmes in Dhaka and elsewhere across the country in support of four issues, including declaring an electoral roadmap for starting a democratic journey.

Senior BNP leaders told BSS that BNP would center the four main issues in the rallies in presence of party’s senior and central leaders at all its 67 organisational district-units from 12 to 25 February ‘mainly focusing’ on the demand for the next Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls.

BNP’s four main demands are: keeping the commodity prices at tolerable level, improving the law and order situation, declaring an electoral roadmap for starting a democratic journey and preventing all ill-attempts of the deposed fascist cliques against the state, they said.

As sequel to the meeting of the BNP senior leaders with the interim government’s Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on 10 February at Jamuna here, this programme was announced formally to gear up party’s preparation for the elections by December.

They said getting the word from the interim government’s high-up on holding general polls by December, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and other key leaders became convinced  but their  widespread confusion has not removed yet.

However, the BNP thinks that the government is sincere in arranging elections, but different types of obstacles may arise from different places and there may be a conspiracy also.

As a result, the demand for elections in these district rallies will be further strengthened, they added.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed in a party release on Monday said BNP senior central leaders, including secretary general, vice -chairman and other leaders will attend the rallies of the party’s grassroots levels.
