Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB), has stated his hope that the overall point-to-point inflation rate will fall below 5% by the upcoming fiscal year (2025–2026).

“By June of next year, we want to reduce inflation to 7%. I hope we can reduce it to 5% by the following fiscal year (2025–26). To this goal, we're putting various policy measures into place," he stated.

The central bank governor made the statement while talking to BSS in an interview at the central bank headquarters in the city on Saturday.

In November, the general point-to-point inflation rate in Bangladesh slightly increased.

The general point-to-point inflation rate reached 11.38% from 10.87% in October 2024.

The rise was mainly driven by a rise in food inflation, which increased to 13.80% in November from 12.66% in October.

In the meantime, the non-food inflation rate increased little, from 9.34% in October to 9.39% in November.
