Lutfey Siddiqi, the chief adviser's special envoy convened a significant bilateral meeting with Grace Fu, Singapore's minister for Environment & Sustainability and minister-in-charge for Trade Relations, at the Ministry of Trade offices in Singapore on Tuesday (10 December).
During the discussions, Siddiqi expressed gratitude to Singapore for its unwavering support and continued engagement with Bangladesh's interim government, said a press release.
He particularly acknowledged Singapore’s collaboration in the ongoing negotiations for a free trade agreement, which commenced officially last month.
Highlighting the broader aspirations of the interim government, he stated, “Bangladesh looks forward to a deeper and wider relationship with Singapore that encompasses, amongst other things, trade, investments, and knowledge transfer.”
Minister Fu reciprocated the appreciation, commending Bangladesh's reforms agenda under the Interim Government. She assured Siddiqi of Singapore’s readiness to share its expertise and experiences, emphasising the transformative potential for Bangladesh to attract greater investment through improved governance and policy frameworks.
The meeting also included participation from Ashik Chowdhury, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), and Luthfun Nahar, Bangladesh's Commercial Counsellor in Singapore, who further reinforced the prospects of bilateral cooperation.
This high-level engagement underscores the growing partnership between the two nations, with a shared vision of advancing economic collaboration and sustainable development.
