Bangladesh’s top and middle order posted a competitive total of 294 for 6 against the West Indies in the first ODI at Basseterre.

Choosing to bat on a sunny morning, Bangladesh set a solid platform and accelerated effectively in the final overs.

Tanzid Hasan led the initial charge with a fluent 60 off 60 balls, with five boundaries and three sixes. He shared a crucial 50-run partnership with skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz after early wickets saw Soumya Sarkar (19) and Litton Das (2) depart cheaply.

Tanzid's dismissal in the 24th over, caught off Alzarri Joseph, left Bangladesh at 125 for 3.

Mehidy anchored the innings with a gritty 74 from 101 balls, playing a pivotal role through the middle overs. His knock steadied the innings alongside Afif Hossain, whose brisk 28 off 29 balls added momentum.
