Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has condemned the brutal murder of young lawyer Saiful Islam Alif, assistant public prosecutor (APP) at the Chattogram District Court and called on the public to remain patient and not respond to any provocations.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Shafiqur Rahman described the murder as "heinous and deplorable" and condemned the ongoing attempts to destabilise Bangladesh by forces aligned with an oppressive regime.

He said, “A group with vested interests continues to plot and incite chaos in Bangladesh, seeking to destabilise the country through provocative actions. However, the patriotic people of Bangladesh remain vigilant and united, and their nefarious efforts will fail, just as they have in the past."

The Jammat-e-Islami amir expressed deep sorrow over the murder of Alif, stating, "I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of Saiful Islam Alif, a young lawyer and APP of the Chattogram District Court. I pray for the forgiveness of his soul and ask Allah to accept him as a martyr and grant him the highest place in Paradise. My heartfelt condolences go out to his grieving family, friends, and colleagues."

He further emphasised the importance of maintaining patience in the face of provocations, urging members of his party, students, and the patriotic people of Bangladesh to stay calm. “We must never take the law into our own hands,” he said, adding, “I call on the relevant authorities to take strict legal action against those responsible for this ruthless murder.”
