As the vote counting in the US presidential election nears its end, according to the influential US media outlet The New York Times, current projections suggest that Republican candidate Donald Trump could secure 301 electoral college votes, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris is projected to obtain 237.

As time progresses, the contest between Trump and Harris is proving to be highly competitive.

Despite these preliminary figures, the results from seven states, known in US political terms as "swing states" or "battleground states", have yet to be declared.

Political analysts view these states as pivotal in this election.

Given the "winner-takes-all" system in these states, their outcomes may be decisive in determining the final result.
