Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has pledged the dedication of the interim government—formed through an unprecedented uprising by students, workers, and the public—to fulfil the aspirations of the nation's youth.
In a statement on Friday (1 November) marking "National Youth Day 2024", Dr Yunus extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the youth of Bangladesh.
He expressed his satisfaction with the celebration of this year’s National Youth Day and noted that the theme— "Skilled Youth Will Build the Nation, a Bangladesh Free of Inequality"—is both timely and relevant.
"Our indomitable youth have heroically contributed in every crisis the nation has faced," Dr Yunus remarked, highlighting that the Ministry of Youth and Sports, through the Department of Youth Development, continues to offer multifaceted training in technology, vocational skills, and agriculture to elevate the youth into skilled human resources.
Dr Yunus disclosed that during the tenure of the current interim government, the loan ceiling for youth at all levels has been increased.
"Additionally, the government is providing collateral-free loans to trained youth to facilitate their employment. Employment opportunities abroad are also being created by equipping young people with skill-oriented training, enabling them to serve as skilled manpower," he added.
The chief adviser noted that the Youth Welfare Fund continues to operate in support of young people’s welfare, aiming to enhance their social status, foster leadership, develop talents, empower them, and ensure employment opportunities.
Efforts have also been intensified at the "National Youth Development Institute" in Savar to further these objectives.
Dr Yunus expressed hope that the celebration of "National Youth Day 2024" would enhance public awareness regarding the empowerment and rights of the nation’s youth.
He concluded by extending his best wishes for the success of all initiatives undertaken to commemorate National Youth Day 2024.
