The interim government has approved the maximum age limit for entry into public service at 32 years.

This decision was made during the Advisory Council meeting held on Thursday (24 October).

Earlier, on 14 October, a committee formed to review the age limit for public sector employment submitted a report to the government, recommending an extension to the existing age limits.

According to the committee's chair, Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, the proposal suggested raising the maximum age limit for men to 35 years and for women to 37 years.

In light of this suggestion, the Public Administration Ministry will amend the Bangladesh Civil Service (Age, Qualification, and Direct Recruitment Examination) Act 2014 under Section 59 of the Government Service Act, 2018.

The amendment will allow a candidate to sit for the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination a maximum of three times.
