A meeting is scheduled to be held at the residence of Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in Jamuna concerning the issue surrounding President Mohammad Sahabuddin.
Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiya informed reporters of this development at the secretariat on Wednesday (23 October).
"We are going to meet the chief adviser regarding the presidential issue," he added.
In related events, following a blockade of the road in front of Bangabhaban demanding the resignation of President Mohammed Sahabuddin, workers from various organisations attempted to breach barricades to enter the premises late last night.
Police and military personnel responded with baton charges, tear gas, and sound grenades to disperse the crowd, resulting in heightened tension until midnight.
Five individuals were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with injuries sustained during the clashes.
Meanwhile, the student movement against discrimination has raised five key demands, one of which includes the resignation of the President.
Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the student movement, posted on Facebook to announce that the advisory council of the interim government has scheduled a discussion with them on Wednesday.
He expressed hope that the interim government would reach a decision following discussions to address the five demands of the student populace.
Notably, Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, the editor of Daily Manabzamin, reported that the president has indicated he possesses no documented evidence regarding the resignation of the prime minister.
Since then, supporters of the interim government and critics of the Awami League have harshly criticised the president on social media, demanding his resignation or removal.
However, following President Mohammed Sahabuddin's comments on the resignation letter of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, many leaders of the student movement against discrimination have called for his departure.
There are also discussions regarding the legal and constitutional avenues for potentially removing him from office.
