Attempts to exploit religious conflicts for political gains will not be allowed, said Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Adviser Nahid Islam during his visit today to the Durga Puja mandap at the Kalabagan field.
"We have made every effort to ensure that Durga Puja can be celebrated peacefully across the country. An additional day of public holiday has been declared, and the highest level of security measures has been implemented," he said at the event organized by Dhanmondi Sarbojanin Puja Udjapan Committee.
Biswajit Roy, General Secretary of Dhanmondi Sarbojanin Puja Udjapan Committee, expressed his appreciation for the extended holiday and security arrangements, saying, "We appreciate the enhanced security this year."
The adviser also emphasized the importance of maintaining religious harmony in Bangladesh, noting that instability in the country would impact the entire South Asian region. He urged everyone to remain vigilant against attempts to create unrest in certain areas.
Earlier, while visiting another Durga Puja mandap set up by the Sanatan Samaj Kalyan Sangha in Khamarbari, Nahid Islam encouraged members of the Hindu community to celebrate Durga Puja without any concerns.
Referring to the incident in Chattogram yesterday, Nahid Islam added that swift legal action was taken, reiterating the need to respect the rights and freedoms of all religions. After the visit, the adviser interacted with devotees present at the mandap, exchanging greetings.
