Bangladesh began their ICC Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup campaign with a victory, defeating Nepal by 5 wickets in a low-scoring encounter at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi, Malaysia.

Jannatul Maoua delivered an impressive bowling performance, taking 2 wickets for 11 runs in her four overs. Nepal struggled with the bat, as five of their players were run out, and they were bowled out for just 52 runs in 18.2 overs after being sent in to bat. Sana Parveen (19) and Seemana KC (10) were the only Nepalese batters to reach double figures.

In response, Bangladesh faced a few hiccups, losing wickets at regular intervals. However, Sadia Islam scored 16, and captain Sumaiya Akter added 12, guiding the young Tigresses to 53-5 in 13.2 overs to secure the win.

This victory marks Bangladesh's first match in Group D. They will take on Australia next, on Monday, at the same venue.
