Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has said they want to establish a strong constitutional right in the country.

"We want to get a strong democratic constitution through proper reforms to our constitution on the basis of which our country will get a balanced state system and our economic emancipation will happen for the people of the country," he said.

Salahuddin was speaking as the chief guest at the ‘National Representative Conference 2025’ of Bhashani Anusari Parishad at the National Press Club here.

Referring to the comments of a number of advisers that the people want Professor Muhammad Yunus' government for five years, he said, "The interim government cannot be an alternative to the elected government. You (Prof. Yunus) are definitely unelected. You will be reminded of that every day."

Criticizing a statement by the Fisheries and Livestock Adviser, he said, "Our Farida Apa is an adviser, I have a very good relationship with her, why did she say that they were elected. How? Did the people elect them through a mass uprising? Then why is there an Election Commission in this country?"

Salahuddin Ahmed said the people of Bangladesh created a democratic mass uprising, a student uprising in this country through a one-stage movement to regain democratic rights, to regain constitutional rights, to establish a non-discriminatory state and social system.

The BNP leader said, "If someone wants to call this a revolution, then I will express my regret. This is not a social revolution. There was no revolution to change economic and social customs and systems.”

In this connection, he said a democratic mass uprising against fascism has taken place to regain democratic rights from democratic expectations. “That is why we want to establish voting rights of the people in this country as soon as possible to regain democratic rights,” he added.

Mahmudur Rahman Manna, President of Nagorik Oikya, Saiful Haque, General Secretary of Biplobi Workers Party also spoke on the occasion.

The name of the organization was changed to 'Bhasani Janshakti Party' through the 'National Representative Conference 2025' of the Bhasani Anusari Parishad.

Sheikh Rafiqul Islam, the convener of the Bhasani Anusari Parishad, has been made its Chairman and Abu Yusuf Selim has been made its General Secretary respective.
