The interim government will withdraw all cases filed under the Cybersecurity Act, announced Law Adviser Asif Nazrul.
"Initiatives have been taken to reform the Cybersecurity Act. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology is currently working on this matter," he said during a press conference held by the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs on Tuesday (21 January).
Regarding politically motivated cases, he revealed that "2,500 political harassment or ghost cases have been identified across 25 districts. These cases involve lakhs of people as defendants. All such cases will be withdrawn by February."
Nazrul also addressed the issue of judicial appointments, highlighting that in the past, judges were appointed based on political considerations.
"From now on, judicial appointments will be made based on competence and impartiality. An ordinance is being drafted for the appointment of judges to the Supreme Court," he added.
