BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has voiced his concerns about the potential societal upheaval that could result from radical revolutionary ideas.

He stressed the importance of avoiding hasty actions that could lead to chaos.

Speaking as the chief guest at a book discussion held on Tuesday (21 January), at the National Press Club to mark the 89th birth anniversary of Ziaur Rahman and the 12th anniversary of the Zia Smriti Pathagar, Fakhrul cautioned against extreme revolutionary thinking.

He emphasised that such an approach could escalate into an undesirable state of anarchy.

“One must always remember that rashness is not an option,” Fakhrul stated.

“Pursuing extreme revolutionary ideas and creating further instability in society is not desirable. We must bear in mind that inciting chaos would not be the right course of action.”

He referred to the teachings of Professor Mahbub Ullah, highlighting the concept of romanticism in revolutions, which implies a passionate drive to change everything immediately.

However, Fakhrul argued that such transformations must occur gradually and methodically.

Fakhrul called for patience, urging everyone to tread carefully in the current turbulent times.

“To control the present instability, we must act with patience. We should not invite further trouble by creating anarchy. These are the thoughts we must keep in mind,” he concluded.

The event was presided over by Abdus Salam, president of the Zia Smriti Pathagar, with Md Zaher Dipti, the General Secretary, acting as the moderator.

The discussion was also attended by Professor Dr Mahbub Ullah, Manzure Elahi, Member Secretary of BNP's Narsingdi district, and Mahdi Amin, Adviser to the Acting Chairman of BNP, among others.
