The High Court (HC) today ordered the authorities concerned to investigate the allegations of embezzlement of more than Taka 100 crore of the clients of Homeland Life Insurance Company Limited and submit a report on 27 August.
A High Court division bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ebadoth Hossain passed the order this noon after holding hearing on a writ petition.
Earlier in the day, an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) counsel submitted a compliance report in this regard and said the anti-graft body has already started its probe and filed a progress report.
"The writ was filed on behalf of 14 clients of the company for embezzlement of Taka 104.06 crore. The court after holding primary hearing on the matter, had asked Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority chairman and ACC Chairman to probe the allegations. It had also ordered to submit a compliance report in this regard," Advocate Akter Rosul Murad, who moved the plea before the court, told newsmen.
