DMP issues traffic advisory for 21 February, suggests alternative routes

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a traffic advisory for the safe and unhindered observance of Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day on 21 February.

Special traffic measures will be taken around the Central Shaheed Minar area from 6pm on Tuesday (20 February) to 3pm on Wednesday (21 February), DMP said in the traffic advisory notice on Sunday (18 February).

According to the DMP notice, Shahbagh crossing, TSC crossing, Doel Square crossing, High Court crossing, Shahidullah Hall crossing, Dhaka University Gymnasium grounds, Ramna crossing, Jagannath Hall crossing, Nilkhet crossing, Palashi crossing, Bakshi Bazar crossing and Chankharpul crossing will be closed or have road diversions.

Katabon-Nilkhet crossing, Palashi, Bakshibazar and Chankharpul crossing will be diverted to alternative routes.

The same will be done for the Shahbagh-Katabon crossing, Bata Signal-Science Lab crossing and Mirpur Road.

Alternative routes will be directed for Shahbagh crossing, Matsya Bhaban crossing, Kadamfoara crossing, High Court crossing, Abdul Gani Road, Zero Point crossing, Bangabazar crossing, Police Headquarters, Golap Shah Mazar and Fulbaria crossing.

Shahbagh crossing, Hotel Intercontinental crossing, Bangla Motor crossing, Sonargaon crossing, Farmgate crossing, Bakshibazar crossing, Chankharpul crossing and Nimtali-Mayor Hanif Flyover routes will also be diverted to alternative routes.

Roads where entry will be prohibited

Bakshi Bazar, Jagannath Hall crossing road, Chankharpul- Ramna Chattar crossing, TSC- Shivbari crossing and DU VC residence.

Pedestrians may walk along the following route

Palashi crossing, Shaheed Minar, Doel Chattar, High Court crossing, TSC crossing and Shahidullah hall crossing.

Parking space

The Gymnasium Ground at Dhaka University will be reserved for VIP parking. 

Mukarram Bhaban Field at Dhaka University is allocated to law enforcers. 

The area from Nilkhet Crossing to Palashi Crossing is open to the general public.
