Additional traffic congestion is expected en route to 21 districts from Dhaka due to renovation work on the Postgola Bridge (Buriganga-1) scheduled to take place from 22 February – 8 March, according to authorities in the road transport sector.

Representatives from seven organisations, including the Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), convened a meeting on Sunday (18 February) to outline alternative routes to manage the anticipated increase in traffic congestion.

Following the meeting held at the DMP Headquarters, Additional Police Commissioner of DMP Traffic Department, Munibur Rahman, briefed the media about the discussions.

Passenger buses will stop at Gabtali instead of Sayedabad.

Vehicles bound for Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions will have to use the Lalon Shah Bridge (Kushtia, Pabna).

Lalon Shah Bridge (Kushtia, Pabna) and Bangabandhu Bridge should be used for travel in the Mymensingh division and parts of Tangail district.

People heading to Sylhet Division and Brahmanbaria should use the Asian Highway via Daulatdia, Paturia, Nabinagar, Bypail, Chandra, and Bhogra intersections.

For travelling to Chattogram Division, the route via Padma Bridge, Srinagar, Munshiganj, Muktarpur Bridge, Third Shitalakshya Bridge, and Madanpur should be used.
