Eight passengers who sustained burns in the Benapole Express fire yesterday are now in critical condition, with burns to their throats, said Dr. Samanta Lal Sen, the chief coordinator of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
“A patient named Asif Mohammad Khan suffered 8% burns, while another individual named Nafiz Alam suffered 5%. The breathing passages of all patients, including the two mentioned, have been affected due to burns. Currently, all patients are under observation and are in critical condition,” Dr. Samanta Lal Sen said during a press conference on Saturday.
The arson attack on the Benapole Express train in Dhaka's Gopibagh area on Friday night (5 January) resulted in four fatalities.
In connection with the incident, eight people, including Nabiullah Nabi, the joint convener of Dhaka south unit of BNP, have been arrested.
