Thousands of BNP leaders and activists have gathered at Nayapaltan in Dhaka to join Saturday's rally demanding party Chairperson Khaleda Zia's release and treatment abroad.

The rally started at 2:45pm in front of BNP's central office in Nayapaltan.

A visit to Purana Paltan, Bijoy Nagar, Fakirapool, and Arambagh areas reveals that BNP leaders and activists from Dhaka metropolis and surrounding districts are gathering on the roadside and in front of various buildings. From there, they will join the rally in small processions.

After nearly eight months, the BNP has launched a new programme demanding the release of party chief Khaleda Zia. From the rally stage, BNP Central Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin has urged leaders and activists to participate peacefully and in an orderly manner.

He said, "Khaleda Zia is our emotional core, the symbol of Bangladesh's independence, sovereignty, and democracy. Therefore, it is the responsibility of BNP leaders and activists to make this rally successful in a peaceful manner."
