Jaishankar meets PM Hasina in New Delhi

Indian Union Cabinet Minister and former External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has paid a courtesy call on visiting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

"Both the Bangladesh Premier and Jaishankar discussed in detail about the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries," Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud told journalists after the meeting.

They expressed their desire to elevate the relations further in the days to come, he said.

Hasina congratulated Jaishankar on being chosen as a minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third-term cabinet and invited him to visit Bangladesh.

Jaishankar said the relations between the two countries have reached a new height.

"We, the two countries have been working to elevate and promote the relations further," Hasan quoted Jaishankar as telling PM Hasina.

Senior Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and PM's Press Secretary M Nayeemul Islam Khan were present during the briefing.
