The newly appointed Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui has asserted that Rohingya individuals will not be allowed to enter Bangladesh under any circumstances amid the ongoing clashes in Myanmar.

"The situation along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border is currently under control. The BGB is actively working to repel 65 Rohingya individuals attempting to enter Bangladesh by boat," said the Director General.

The newly appointed DG was speaking to reporters after paying his respects at the grave of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj around noon today.

"We are managing the situation with a focus on humanitarian concerns and the maintenance of positive international relations," he stated.

Providing an update on the situation, the BGB head revealed that 264 members of the Myanmar Border Police (BGP) have surrendered to the BGB. The surrendered individuals have been granted shelter, and arrangements for their food and medical needs have been made.

Of the surrendering members, 15 have sustained injuries, with eight in critical condition. The injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment at Cox’s Bazar Medical College & Hospital and Chattogram Medical College & Hospital.
