A compartment of Dhaka-bound Turag commuter train derailed at the outer signal of Dhirashram railway station in Gazipur.

The incident happened at around 7:30am on Thursday (23 May), of Joydebpur Railway Junction and Station Master Hanif Ali said.

However, there were no casualties, he added.

“The Turag Commuter 2 train departs from Joydebpur every day at 7:15am and reaches Dhaka at 8:30am. On Thursday (May 23), the Dhaka-bound Turag commuter train left Joydebpur railway station with passengers on schedule. Later, shortly after the train crossed Dhirashram station, one of its coaches derailed. As a result, one line of the Dhaka-Joydebpur rail route was temporarily closed,” the official said.

“Dhaka-Joidebpur railway has dual gauge double line. Although the east side line was temporarily closed after the accident, the bi-rotation train movement on the west sideline was kept as normal,” he added.

The train again departed for Dhaka with passengers at around 8:30am leaving behind the derailed compartment.
