The National Economic Council (NEC) approved the Annual Development Programme (ADP) worth Tk2,65,000 crore for the next fiscal year.
The approval came following a meeting of the NEC chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the NEC auditorium in the capital on Thursday (17 May).
After the meeting, Planning Minister Absus Salam briefed the media.
Planning Secretary Satyajit Karmakar and other members of the planning commission were also present during the briefing.
"ADP for the current fiscal was Tk2,63,000 crore, Tk1,69,000 crore came from the government exchequer and Tk94,000 crore from foreign sources," said Satyajit Karmakar.
Of the total approved amount, Tk1,65,000 crore would be managed from the government’s own funds and Tk1,00,000 crore from external sectors in the form of loans and grants.
The size of the ADP for the next fiscal increased by Tk2,000 crore a mere 0.76% increased compared to the current ADP for the current fiscal year.
Planning Commission proposed a decrease of Tk4,000 crore - about 2.37% from the current fiscal year from the government funds but proposed an increase of Tk6,000 crore, 6.38% higher from foreign sources.
