Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a weather alert forecasting the likelihood of storms sweeping across twelve regions, including Dhaka, by Thursday (17 April) midday.

The advisory, issued for inland river ports and valid until 1pm on Thursday, warned that temporary gusty or squally winds—ranging from 45 to 60 km/h—may blow from the west or north-west, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms.

The affected regions include Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Bogura, Pabna, Dhaka, Tangail, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar.

Authorities have instructed river ports in these areas to hoist cautionary signal number 1.

Separately, the BMD's latest bulletin on Wednesday (16 April) predicted temporary gusty winds, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorms in parts of the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions.

Isolated areas in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may also experience similar weather conditions.

Some locations may see moderate to heavy rainfall.

A slight drop in both daytime and nighttime temperatures is also anticipated across the country.
