Bangladeshi-origin English Premier League footballer Hamza Dewan Chowdhury arrived in Bangladesh on Monday as part of the 30-member preliminary squad for the AFC Asian Cup 2025 qualifiers.

Hamza, accompanied by his family, landed at Sylhet Osmani International Airport from London via a Bangladesh Biman flight. He is set to travel to his ancestral home in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj on the same day.

After spending a day or two in his village, he will head to Dhaka on either Tuesday or Wednesday to join the Bangladesh national football team camp.

The national team is scheduled to depart for Kolkata on Thursday morning (20 March) before proceeding to Shillong for their AFC Asian Cup qualifier against India on 25 March.

Hamza will participate in the Bangladesh team’s official press conference at the team hotel in Dhaka on Wednesday (19 March), where he will address the media alongside the head coach and team captain.

The full squad, including Hamza, will take part in their final practice session on Wednesday afternoon or evening following an official team photo session.

Earlier, the Bangladesh national team underwent a 12-day intensive training camp in Taif, Saudi Arabia, to prepare for the crucial qualifier against India.
