In a move aimed at ensuring the safety of children, Saudi Arabia has banned youngsters from accompanying their parents or guardians during the 2025 Hajj season.
The ban was announced by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, citing safety concerns over extreme crowding during the pilgrimage, which draws millions of worshippers to the Gulf kingdom from all around the world every year.
“This measure is taken to ensure the safety and well-being of children and to avoid exposing them to any harm during the pilgrimage,” the ministry said in a statement.
It also added that, as in previous years, priority for Hajj participation will be given to muslims who have not performed the pilgrimage before.
