The preliminary registration for the 2025 Hajj is set to begin on 1 September, continuing until 30 November this year.

Both government and private channels will facilitate the registration process, and there will be no extension of the deadline beyond 30 November, said a press release from the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Monday (26 August).

Any individual who has previously pre-registered or is newly pre-registering can complete the preliminary registration by depositing Tk300,000.

The remaining amount of the Hajj package cost must be paid within the time specified in the package.

The Hajj package price for this year will be announced based on the expenses incurred during the Saudi phase and airfare.

However, efforts will be made to reduce the cost of the general Hajj package for 2025 compared to last year.

The pre-registration fee for both government and private channels has been set at Tk30,000. Bangladesh’s quota for Hajj pilgrims in 2025 is 127,198. Once this quota is filled, the preliminary registration process will automatically close.

The general package will accommodate a maximum of six beds per room in a house or hotel.

However, there will be options to upgrade the package. Hajj agencies may offer special packages to send pilgrims.

A preliminary list of qualified agencies to manage the Hajj process can be found at www.hajj.gov.bd.

Additionally, any information related to the Hajj can be obtained by calling 16136.

Prospective pilgrims wishing to register through the government channel can pre-register and complete their preliminary registration at any Union Digital Centre, Islamic Foundation’s divisional and district offices, Baitul Mukarram Mosque, and the Hajj Office in Ashkona, Dhaka, using the e-Hajj system (www.hajj.gov.bd) or the e-Hajj BD mobile app.

Those opting for private channels must complete their preliminary registration through approved agencies. The pre-registration certificate and passport are required at the time of preliminary registration.

Individuals wishing to perform Hajj through the government channel must deposit the registration fee into the account titled "Sale Proceeds of Hajj Deposit" at Sonali Bank PLC’s Local Office Branch, Motijheel, Dhaka (account number: 0002633000908).

The preliminary registration fee can be deposited at any branch of Sonali Bank using a voucher. Those registering through private channels must deposit the registration fee into the designated bank account specified by the agency.

Individuals suffering from terminal illnesses such as cancer, advanced cardiac conditions, liver cirrhosis, kidney disease, infectious tuberculosis, dementia, as well as pregnant women and those with severe mobility impairments, have been advised not to register for the Hajj.
