Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that unreasonable protests and demands have exceeded the limits of tolerance.
He made the remarks while briefing journalists on Wednesday (5 February), following his visit to the Naval Police Headquarters in Gulshan.
The adviser urged demonstrators to conduct their programmes within their respective areas rather than blocking roads, emphasising the inconvenience such disruptions cause to the public.
Responding to a query regarding the attack on Uttara police station, he assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted, and legal action would be taken against those involved.
He also called upon the media to shed light on the public suffering caused by unnecessary road blockades, stressing the importance of responsible reporting.
On the issue of fugitive suspects in the International Crimes Tribunal cases, including those residing in India and other countries, Jahangir Alam stated that arrangements would be made for their repatriation under existing extradition agreements.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam, who was also present at the briefing, announced that Interpol would be requested to issue a Red Alert against these fugitives.
He expressed confidence that the international policing organisation would act swiftly in this regard.
The IGP further noted that once a Red Alert is issued, the host countries' law enforcement agencies would bear a moral and legal obligation to apprehend the suspects.
