All independent Ebtedayee madrasahs will be gradually nationalised, SM Masudul Haque, joint secretary of the Technical Madrasa Division, has said.
Following a meeting with a delegation of teachers on Tuesday, Masudul Haque shared the update, stating, "We have begun working on your six-point demands, along with several additional issues. Agreeing with your first demand for the nationalisation of all institutions, we have decided to nationalise all Ebtedayee madrasas in phases."
He further added, "Among your other demands, the resumption of academic recognition, which has been halted, will start from June this year. Additionally, we have made a new decision to include all Ebtedayee madrasas under MPO facilities starting in 2025."
In the initial phase, 1,519 primary independent Ebtedayee madrasas currently receiving grants will be nationalised.
On 27 January, teachers of Ebtedayee madrasahs have given a 24-hour ultimatum to the government for the nationalisation of their jobs, threatening to besiege the home ministry if their demands are not met within the timeframe.
