Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus underscored the importance of unity and described it as the foundation of the government's strength and resilience.

"When we work alone, we feel isolated and weak. But when we come together, we find courage and strength. We are born from unity, and unity is our strength," Yunus said in his inaugural speech at an all-party meeting at the Foreign Service Academy on Thursday.

Professor Yunus expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with political leaders and other stakeholders, noting that such interactions bolster the government's mission. "This government was founded on the ideals of unity, and it derives its purpose and energy from that collective spirit," he added.

Recalling a recent discussion with student leaders about their plans to issue a new proclamation (July Proclamation), Yunus stressed the importance of honouring the spirit of 5 August, a day symbolising unity and collective action. He encouraged all parties to recreate that spirit in their current endeavors.

"You cannot achieve this alone. The unity we forged on 5 August must be respected and upheld. Any deviation would undermine the essence of that unity," Yunus remarked.

He highlighted the significance of the proclamation as a unifying document, urging all parties to reach a consensus before presenting it to the nation and the international community. "The proclamation can serve as a powerful message to the world, showcasing our resilience and steadfast commitment as a united nation despite internal challenges," Yunus said.

Professor Yunus concluded by calling on all stakeholders to remain united to ensure the success of the government's goals. "When I sit with you, I draw courage and strength. Seeing all of you today reminds me of 5 August and the unity we achieved. Together, we can recreate that spirit and present it to the people and the world," he affirmed.
